Amy Musgrave For Weld RE-5J School Board

A message from Amy Musgrave

As a parent and longtime community member, I am committed to advocating for the needs of ALL Weld RE-5J students and families. Our community is different – let’s focus on keeping that autonomy.

I’m committed to keeping our board a sound voice for our community. I’m committed to keeping it a safe place to share all viewpoints. My unique perspective will help ensure that the board is making decisions that are in the best interest of our children, parents, and our community.

Things that are important to me:

Our top priority should be the safety of all students and staff.

Focusing on the basics! We need to focus on academic rigor. With COVID and mask mandates, many of our students fell behind academically. Basic academics should be our focus.

Transparency. It’s the law.

Parents should be involved in the decisions regarding their children. Period. Educators and parents should work together!

Let’s listen to each other and have adult, respectful, conversations. We might have different opinions, but we all want what is best for our kids. We can have different opinions and still engage in healthy debate. We should be open to listening to those who disagree with us. It is what our country is founded upon.

We are all equal. I suggest we treat our children that way.

Respect humans; respect human life. Love each other.

We should prepare our children for the next chapter after high school, be it college, trade school, or entering the workforce.

More about me:

I am married to a 24 year Army veteran who is 100% service connected disabled. I’m the proud mother of four children who all attend school in Weld RE-5J. I am also stepmother to two adult children, both Roosevelt graduates.

My husband and I are both Colorado natives with deep roots in the community and state. I come from a family of teachers and educators.

I attended University of Northern Colorado and am a Registered Nurse. I have worked in inpatient psychiatric care and currently work in the preoperative department.

I volunteer at our local schools and served as volunteer coordinator for a food co-op for many years, bringing fresh produce and food to the community. I have volunteered on many campaigns and community projects.

I’m just a mom and a nurse. I want our children to have a safe place to learn. I love this community and this school district. I don’t want extremism of any kind threatening what we have.

I would appreciate your support so very much.

Thank you!
